Pia has always tried to keep a low profile.  Don’t let anybody know who she is, and run at the first sign of trouble.  That was before.  Now, she’s been blackmailed by a sleazy ex-boyfriend to steal a treasure from a dragon’s hoard.  But not any dragon.  No, she has to steal from Dragos, the most powerful dragon shifter in the world.  Once the deed is done she runs, knowing how slim her chances are of escape, but knowing she has to try anyway.

Dragos is furious to find a coin missing from his hoard.  Wanting the thief’s head on a platter, he begins the search, and is surprised to find the thief is actually a woman.  After finding her, he had plans to make her beg for mercy before he killed her.  Once he meets Pia, however, his plans change.  He somehow can’t find it in himself to hurt her, but rather protect her.  When his archnemesis, the King of the Dark Fae, threatens not only his life, but Pia’s as well, he declares war on the Dark Fae.  He takes her back to his empire in New York to keep her safe, and also to keep her close.  He’s drawn to her like a moth to a flame, and he suspects it’s because of the shifter blood she carries within her.

But not everyone who works for him thinks it’s a good idea to keep Pia there.  Enemies are amassing in the shadows, waiting for the chance to finally bring Dragos down by exploiting his new weakness–Pia.

Carla says:
This is an amazing start to what I’m sure will be an amazing series.  The world was thoroughly mapped out and well-detailed, and I was really able to get a feel for not only the characters, but their histories as well.  The author did an amazing job writing Dragos, because I could see this powerful dragon that everyone bows to not knowing how to take Pia when she stands up to him.  Even his attempts at courting her were awkward but sincere.  The secondary characters all had their own unique personalities without clogging up the story.  When Pia first got to Cuelebre Enterprises, she had to prove herself to not only her bodyguards, but those that work directly under Dragos.  It was a thrill from start to finish, and I can’t wait for the second one called Storm’s Heart to come out on August 2, 2011 and book three, Serpent’s Kiss on October 4th.

Annette says:
I was drawn in from the very beginning.  There were a few spots that I thought it dragged with more information than needed but overall it was a wonderful story and of course one hot dragon. To watch such a powerful man who is used to being obeyed to his every command brought down by woman who would not put up with his controlling manner was such a thrill.  The relationship between Dragos and Pia was such a joy to read as well as the secondary characters.  I look forward to book two in this new series.
